Fwd: Mystic Seaport Summer Internship

Mystic Seaport Summer Internship Program
(Mid-June through late August 2013)

Spend your summer on the banks of the beautiful Mystic River in Mystic, Connecticut, as you
learn about museums and the maritime world.

We seek a select group of upper-level undergraduates and graduate students who are curious
about museum work and passionate about sharing maritime history or marine science with the

by Mystic Seaport leaders will introduce you to museum theory and current best practices. Two
days each week (including one weekend day) will be spent as an exhibit interpreter, bringing
what you've learned to a broad public audience. You'll spend 1-2 days each week working
closely with museum staff on a research project contributing to future exhibits, programs,
activities, and events. Depending on the intern's skills and interests, project areas might involve
maritime history, literature, art, drama, underwater archeology, or marine biology.

College or graduate credit is available through Trinity College or the University of Connecticut.
This is a full-time, 10-week internship that pays a small stipend to help defray living expenses.

Subject: Queens Museum is hiring a School Programs Manager

Dear friends,

I am now in my third week as the Director of Education at the Queens Museum.

We are looking for a School Programs Manager (job description attached). It's a really exciting time for the museum as we are getting ready to expand into a much larger space, with more classroom, studio and gallery space and great program opportunities. The School Programs Manager will work closely with the rest of the department, it's a great group of folks and in my brief time, I'm finding the museum very collegial and collaborative with a real commitment to community engagement and partnership.

Please help spread the word wide and far. If any of you want to talk to me more about the position the museum etc etc please get back in touch with me.  The annual salary range is in the high 30s with excellent benefits (vision, health, dental, pension etc.).
