Generation Citizen (www.GenerationCitizen.org) is an innovative, quickly scaling non-profit that seeks to strengthen our nation's democracy by empowering young people to become engaged and effective citizens. To fulfill our mission, we partner college student volunteer Democracy Coaches with classroom teachers to teach an action civics course in which teens solve problems they are facing in their own communities.
At GC, you will be working in a fast-paced environment, focused on delivering the highest caliber of program to a wide range of underserved communities and populations in Providence. You will be working alongside the Providence Program Manager to expand and shape the program through growing and strengthening current college chapters and expanding and developing to new college populations in Rhode Island.
Specific job responsibilities will include:
College Chapter Development: Provide coaching and supervision to Providence's existing volunteer college leaders (Chapter Directors), empowering them to build a committed and highly effective cohort of college student Democracy Coaches and to achieve their chapter growth, retention, and quality goals. Develop and execute strategies for growing and developing new college chapters, including leadership development, chapter growth and campus institutionalization.
New Campus Expansion: Lead expansion to new college campuses in Rhode Island, including public, community and private colleges. Research and develop targeted strategies for expansion, engage administrative and faculty partners, and recruit and mentor entrepreneurial student leaders.
Recruitment, Training and Programmatic Quality Assurance: In collaboration with the Providence Program Manager and the national Generation Citizen Program Team, provide training and ongoing support to college student Democracy Coaches and college student Chapter Directors to ensure that they deliver the highest-quality civic education experience to Rhode Island students. This includes:
- Helping to develop and lead college recruitment efforts on new and established campuses
- Helping to develop and lead initial Orientation and Training for college Chapter Directors and Democracy Coaches
- Conducting regular classroom observations in GC's partner schools and providing constructive feedback to Democracy Coaches
- Attending chapter meetings on partner campuses and participating in Chapter Director calls to provide constructive feedback
- Providing consistent support and leadership for leaders on new or developing college campuses
Assistant Program Coordinator: Collaborate with the Providence Program Manager and other Program Managers to continually improve, expand and contribute to national efforts in order to achieve overall desired program outcomes.
Qualifications:
Passion for Generation Citizen's vision of a democracy in which everyone participates, and a demonstrated belief in the potential of college students to execute this vision
Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies, including college students, community leaders and middle and high school partners
Experience leading recruitment, marketing, or organizing efforts on college campuses, with a track record of employing strategic and diverse recruitment tactics
Excellent interpersonal and group facilitation skills
Demonstrated ability to respond proactively to unstructured environments and creatively problem-solve when faced with challenging situations or relationships
Comfort in a fast-paced and high-energy working environment
The following are ideal, but not required:
Knowledge and experience of Rhode Island colleges and communities
Experience teaching or working with middle or high school aged youth, either in a classroom or a community setting
A B.A. or B.S. degree
Entrepreneurial experience

The Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council is seeking a Greenway Manager for a three season position. The Greenway Manager will oversee and train a staff of River Rangers and volunteer groups to maintain the parks and bike path along the 5.5 mile Woonasquatucket River Greenway, from Johnston to Providence.
The Woonasquatucket River Greenway is a 5.5 mile bike path that follows the river on-road and off-road from Providence to Johnston. The WRWC has worked to restore three urban parks along the Greenway – Merino Park, Donigian Park, and Riverside Mills Park. The River Ranger team will work with the Police Department, the Providence and Johnston Parks Department, the Providence Housing Authority, City and Town Council members, local organizations, businesses, churches, recreation centers, and community members to revitalize the parks, maintain the bike path, and educate and empower the watershed community.
Responsibilities
•Develop a Greenway landscape management plan;
•Track daily progress for federal billing purposes;
•Train and supervise unskilled River Rangers for an 8-week summer program (age 16-24);
•Manage unskilled volunteers on large group projects;
•Develop an annual volunteer project plan;
•Maintain all equipment to a high level;
•Organize tool container, repair tools and equipment;
•Maintain the 5.5 mile Greenway and assist in maintenance of parks near bike path - including mowing, weeding, picking up litter, watering plants, sweeping, raking, moving mulch, weed whacking, tree pruning, fence repair, and graffiti removal.
•Supervise two skilled landscaping River Rangers;
Requirements:
•At least two years managerial experience;
•Four years landscaping experience;
•Experience managing projects and leading groups;
•Mechanically inclined;
•Comfortable working with a diverse group of people;
•Experience in trail maintenance and carpentry;
•Have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and experience towing a trailer;
If hired applicant will be required to get a background check.
Special consideration will go to applicants who live in neighborhoods along the Greenway, such as Valley, Olneyville, Hartford, Smith Hill, and Johnston.

Summary: The Director is responsible for the operations of Preserve Rhode Island's Governor Henry Lippitt House Museum in Providence, Rhode Island (see www.preserveri.org). Provides staff support for the Lippitt House Committee, including preparing meeting materials, keeping minutes and keeping Committee members informed about activities and initiatives at the Museum.
Job qualifications and professional skills:
Candidate must be a team player with supervisory experience. High energy extrovert who has a proven track record in museum innovation preferred. Entrepreneurial spirit welcome.
Master's degree in a relevant field (American history, art or cultural history, anthropology, historic preservation or museum studies) preferred. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with significant museum experience, will be considered.
Demonstrated knowledge and success in grant writing and major donor fundraising.
Microsoft Office Suite required. Understanding and use of social media recommended.
Oral and written communication skills.
