CURATORIAL ASSOCIATE, ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN, MIT Museum (temporary, part-time, 50%), to be closely involved in research, preparation/production, and installation of an active annual program of temporary exhibitions in the MIT Museum's Kurtz Gallery for Photography and in the Wolk Gallery of the School of Architecture and Planning. Responsibilities include assisting with exhibition research, preparation, installation, publicity, and related programming. Specific responsibilities (in consultation with the curator) include coordinating the design and production of exhibition graphics and print materials and web site development; media contact; coordinating opening receptions and public programs; coordinating artwork transport and other activities related to the mounting of exhibitions; organizing traveling exhibitions; and other duties as assigned. May also support activities related to collections services and management including reference; accessioning; preparing inventories, guides, finding aids, and web site access tools; and cataloging. Duties may also include basic conservation work with collections and assisting the curator with the supervision of temporary staff, volunteers, and interns.

REQUIREMENTS: a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) in art/architectural history, with subject interest in one or more of the following areas: art history, architectural history, history of design (particularly graphic design), and history of photography. Three years of exhibitions and/or curatorial experience with museum collections required. Seek a well organized individual with excellent writing and interpersonal skills who is highly motivated to work in a team environment. Must be able to retrieve collection objects and document boxes weighing up to 35 lbs. from storage locations that require climbing steps.
