Inca Son comes to Providence

Sunday, May 2, 4:00 p.m.

Salomon 101 / DeCiccio Family Auditorium

Brown University Campus

Five members of the renowned band Inca Son, musicians and dancers of Andean folk traditions led by Cesar Villalobos, will put on a vibrant performance for Museum patrons. Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart says that Inca Son’s members are "indispensable cultural ambassadors of this nearly lost South American folk tradition. Their music is of the highest caliber." Inca Son has performed around the world at museums, folk and world music festivals, and at the 1996 summer and 2002 winter Olympics. Their numerous awards include "Outstanding World Music Act" at the 1999 Boston Music Awards; the 2007 Independent Music Award for "Best World Traditional Song;" and the 2008 Los Angeles Music Award for "Best World Artist." They have also collaborated on the Boston Pops Latin Album. Do not miss this opportunity to see a live performance which, according to Bob Young of the Boston Herald, "will lift you up and transport you clear to the Andes Mountains." Sponsored by donors to the Barbara Greenwald Memorial Arts Program Fund and the Friends of the Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology.  Free and open to the public.
