Field Trip: Newport Historical Society

Announcing the first Public Humanities field trip of the school year:

The Newport Historical Society

On Saturday, October 20th we'll head to the NHS to see An “Indomitable Spirit”: The Life & Legacy of William Ellery, Newport’s Signer of the Declaration of Independence, an exhibit curated by our own Tracy Gierada.

After the NHS, people can wander around Newport and check out other interesting sites such as the Museum of Newport History, the Colony House, the Quaker Meeting House, the Wanton-Lyman-Hazard House, Touro Synagogue, and Trinity Church.

We'll leave from the JNBC @ 10:30 am.  We will be back at the JNBC sometime in the late afternoon, probably around 4:00 pm (depending on interest and how long people want to stay).

Please e-mail me (ann_k_johnson@brown.edu) if you would like to go!  Also, let me know if you can drive or if you need a ride.
