Facing Mesoamerica
Opening Reception
Friday, September 28, 5:30 p.m.
at The Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology
300 Tower St., Bristol, RI
Join us for the opening of our newest exhibition, Facing Mesoamerica. In this exhibit, representations of human faces and bodies offer a personalized introduction to the Precolumbian past and challenge prevailing ideas about the function and meaning of the “portrait.” Facing Mesoamerica also explores the current state of Mesoamerican archaeology, considering ethical challenges, logistical diffi culties, and research questions that confront scholars of the Precolumbian past.
Looking for unique gift ideas? Our new Museum Shop in Bristol hosts an exciting array of books and fair-trade gift items from around the world! Visit our newly renovated Museum Shop during the opening reception and receive 10% off your purchases! Members receive a 20% discount.
There will be a free van for students from campus to Bristol for the exhibit opening on September 28. It will leave from Faunce Arch at 4:45 p.m. and return to campus by 7:30 p.m.
