CALL FOR STUDENT PAPERS
MOUNTAIN PLAINS MUSEUMS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE
OCTOBER 17-21, 2011
HELENA, MONTANA
We are asking university personnel associated with museum studies or public history programs (as well as university museum staff who offer training/internships for students interested in pursuing museum careers) to encourage students to submit proposals for papers to be presented at the 2011 MPMA Conference in Helena, Montana. The student session is offered each year and is sponsored by the Committee on Museum Professional Training, Emerging Museum Professionals, and the Association of Academic Museums and Galleries.
Student papers may address research and projects that apply museum method and theory; students should also include a critical evaluation and discussion of how this experience contributes to their professional development. This conference session gives students the opportunity to present papers at a regional conference and to meet and visit with professionals in the field.
In order to propose a student paper for presentation, please submit the following: Administrator's name, institutional affiliation, and contact information, including email address; student's name and contact information, paper title, a two-page abstract, and equipment requests. Email required materials to Dr. Carolyn Pool atcpool@uco.edu; include MPMA Conference in subject heading. The deadline for paper submissions is April 22, 2011.
Please notify students of this opportunity and encourage them to submit paper proposals. If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me.
Dr. Carolyn Pool
Professor/Director of Museum Studies
