3. Call for teaching artist for City Studies 4-session project

We're seeking a teaching artist to design and implement a 4-session project for high school students at the New York City College of Technology. CUP's project-based curricula enable students to explore fundamental questions about how the city works, through collaborative research and design.

This project will investigate the process of applying for financial aid and will be part of a Research Methods class for high school students. The class will be producing a visualization that breaks down this complex system so that others will be able to better navigate the financial aid process. The project will be developed in close collaboration with CUP staff.
The class meets 9:30 am - 12:30 pm on the following Saturdays: May 12, May 19, June 2, and June 9.

CUP teaching artists and designers work with CUP staff to develop course ideas, schedules, lesson plans, and to document the project. The teaching artist will be paid $1600, and there is a separate budget for materials and other project costs. CUP is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages people of color, women, LGBTQ and disabled candidates to apply.

Instructions for applicants:

Please submit a cover letter, a CV, contact information for two references, and a work sample with up to five images of what you consider to be your strongest visual work (not work produced by students you may have worked with). Please send all material as a single PDF to info@welcometocup.org by Monday, February 20th at 5 pm, using the subject line "City Studies - Financial Aid". For audio or video work samples, please provide a link.

Please address the following in your cover letter:

Why are you interested in this position?
Why are you interested in investigating the financial aid process?
What art and design media are you comfortable working in?
What experience do you have working with youth?
What experience do you have designing curricula?

4. Call for teaching artist for City Studies 10-session project

We're seeking a teaching artist to design and implement a 10-session project for 9th graders at the Urban Assembly School for Criminal Justice in Borough Park. CUP's project-based curricula enable students to explore fundamental questions about how the city works, through collaborative research and design.

This project will be part of an English class and will use interviews to investigate a neighborhood issue to be determined by CUP and the teaching artist, in collaboration with the school. The class will be focusing on developing students' ability to identify and quote relevant information in interviews, articles, and other sources. The project will be developed in close collaboration with CUP staff. The class takes place in late April and early May during the school day.

CUP teaching artists and designers work with CUP staff to develop course ideas, schedules, lesson plans, and to document the project. The teaching artist will be paid $1600 and there is a separate budget for materials and other project costs. CUP is an equal opportunity employer and strongly encourages people of color, women, LGBTQ and disabled candidates to apply.
