Matthew Bogdanos is a homicide prosecutor in the New York County District Attorney's Office.  A colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, he has served in South Korea, Lithuania, Guyana, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kosovo.  Recalled to active duty in 2001, he deployed to Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa, receiving a Bronze Star for counter-terrorist actions against al-Qaeda. He then served several tours in Iraq, receiving a 2005 National Humanities Medal for his work in recovering thousands of Iraq's priceless treasures.  Exposing the link between antiquities trafficking and terrorist financing, he has presented his findings in 150 cities in 15 countries, in venues that include Interpol and both houses of Britain's Parliament.  He holds a classics degree from Bucknell University, a law degree and a master’s in Classics from Columbia University, and a master’s in Strategic Studies from the Army War College.  Having returned to the DA’s Office, he continues the hunt for stolen antiquities.  All royalties from his book, Thieves of Baghdad, go to the Iraq Museum.
