Lecture: On Religious Liberty: The Moral Theology of Roger Williams
In collaboration with the John Clarke Society of Newport, Rhode Island, join us in welcoming Dr. James Calvin Davis to the Rhode Island Historical Society. Davis is a scholar on Roger Williams who specializes on Puritan moral theology. He currently teaches courses in ethics, American religion, and Christian thought at Middlebury College in Vermont. Davis argues that Williams's distinctive theological stance made possible a moral vision that maintained Christian distinctiveness while also permitting cooperation with other worldviews. The lecture will run about an hour and refreshments will be served afterwards. Reservations are requested.
