Greetings!

Civic Tourism 2 is the place for seekers who are rethinking community and tourism. Those who know that the power of our collective thinking, during the conference, will help us solve our pressing problems. Many hearts and minds are better than one. Each of the eight civic labs provides insights into pressing community/tourism problems. Here are five lab examples with key tour focus: (to see agenda and all eight sites click here)

  • Broad Street in Pawtucket, Central Fall and Cumberland, RI: Regenerating a street as a cultural experience with a long history of ethnic origins
Central Falls Barber Shop
  • Cape Cod, MA: Creating local food production and the emerging loss of cranberry production
Cape Cod crandberries
  • Providence, RI: Growing the downtown without losing its soul and character
Westminister ST
  • Mystic, CT: Creating a sustainable village
Mystic Randalls Wharf
  • Westerly, RI: Stimulating local interest in experiencing the town as a year round destination
